Jamey Lamar
As a classical recording engineer and producer, Jamey Lamar has worked with leading ensembles, soloists, and festivals across the country. These include IRIS Orchestra under the direction of Michael Stern; Strings Music Festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; the Aspen Music Festival; Spoleto USA and Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina; and the National Repertory Orchestra. Clients also include the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra; the Fry Street Quartet; Mirari Brass; Annapolis Symphony Orchestra; Carpe Diem String Quartet, and the Poulenc Trio.
Several recent projects produced by Jamey Lamar have been released on the Naxos label, including a disc featuring the clarinet concerto Landscapes with Blues by Stephen Hartke, performed by the IRIS orchestra with soloist Richard Stoltzman, which was named by The New York Times as one of the "Ten Best Classical Discs." Other releases on Naxos include the Carpe Diem String Quartet's set of the complete quartets of Sergei Taneyev, (Vol. 5 of which is due out soon); and a disc of works by Ellen Taafe Zwilich featuring the percussion ensemble Nexus and the IRIS Orchestra. His recordings are frequently featured on American Public Media's Performance Today broadcasts, heard by 1.1 million listeners weekly, nationwide.
Besides producing recordings, Jamey is a frequent pre-concert lecturer, classroom teacher, and program annotator. He also hosts a radio series for the Boise Philharmonic on KBSU.
Jamey attended the North Carolina School for the Performing Arts to study piano in high school. His wider interests in music led him to pursue a degree in Audio Recording from the Cleveland Institute of Music and later to obtain a Master of Music degree in Musicology from The University of Memphis.
